Complex carbohydrates help supports burning fat. Fibrous foods like oatmeal, green veggies, sweet potatoes, and brown rice are digested much slower by the gut, reducing spikes in blood glucose levels and subsequently reducing insulin levels. When insulin is released, the body switches its focus to just storing energy, instead of burning it off. Here is a great recipe that includes sweet potatoes for the good carbs your body needs!
PROTEIN SWEET POTATO PANCAKES
one of the best pancake recipes I’ve ever made!
5 oz sweet potato
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup egg whites
1 tsp psyllium husk (great for added fiber)
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
Mix it all up and throw on griddle! You won’t be disappointed!
